We are now a full day into fall although the leaves started changing colour a couple weeks ago. Instead of dreading the colder weather, shorter days and impending winter I think we should embrace the season. There is no way to avoid it so why not enjoy it! A way to warm up to the autumn season is to decorate your home with a fall theme.
You don't need to change your entire décor over to orange pumpkins, red leaves and harvest wreaths...unless of course you want to, don't hold back! You may want to keep it subtle, if that is the case there are ways to add or replace a couple pieces of décor to create a fall atmosphere without going overboard.
Hang a Wreath
The wreath you choose or make doesn't have to be extravagant or flashy. It can be a bundle of leaves, twigs or anything you can find around the yard. Hang it on your front door or on the wall above the fireplace. You can put these pretty much anywhere.
You can easily get fresh pumpkins at this time of year. Get a selection of different sizes, shapes and colours and combine them into a simple display. Add leaves and corn to add more colour and texture and place the arrangement at your front entrance, on a fireplace mantel or dining room table.
Not wanting to add fall decorations but want to bring the warm colours inside? Choose colourful throws, pillows, flowers and fruit in reds, oranges and greens. These items can even be incorporated into the winter months.
