We are now only one day away from Valentines but its more than enough time to squeak in one more pretty pink decoration. I thought I would attempt a craft on the fly and try making crepe paper flowers. These are actually a lot easier than they look and only take a couple minutes to complete each one!

  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun
  • Paper streamers or crepe paper
  • Pen or pencil

I picked up the streamers from a local dollar store and spend no more than a couple bucks on this craft. Yay for inexpensive! This means you will have more money left over for a romantic dinner.

Start by cutting a strip of streamer about 12 inches long. Fold it in half a couple times until you are left with a 2 inch wide piece. You could also start with a longer piece and fold it more times. At this point you will want to draw a heart/petal shape onto your streamer.

After you cut out the heart shape you will end up with 6 or more petals. Do this as many times as you need to make as many flowers as you want.

Next, crumple up a ball of the crepe paper and wrap a piece around it to create a tail on one end. I find it is easier to attach the petals if there is the tail.

Tightly wrap one petal around the crumpled ball to form a bud.

Apply petals one by one around the bud making sure to overlap each one.

Continue adding petals until you are happy with the way it looks. If you are planning on making a full bouquet have a mixture of buds, full flowers and half full flowers for a more natural look. You can add green crepe leaves to each flower and attach to a green pipe cleaner or flower wire stem.

Happy Crafting and Romancing!
