I have been itching to crochet something new for the last couple days so I thought I would search for something simple and fast. Since spring is fast approaching I wanted to find a pattern for an item that could be used in the warmer months and maybe even into summer. That is when I stumbled across a pattern for a reusable crocheted grocery bag. You can see the original pattern at The Adventures of Cassie. Its quite a neat pattern as the handle is integrated into the top portion of the bag and it stretches as you add items. Its a fairly easy, quick and forgiving pattern. I made a couple mistakes and ended up with less single chains than you are supposed to have but you would never be able to tell.
I did make a couple modifications. On step 6 of Cassie's pattern I added 2 more rounds of (CH1, DC1) and then I added two rounds of a DC only. I did this because I wanted the bag to taper in a little more.
It was a little bit smaller than I expected it to be and mine didn't stretch nearly as much as I would have liked. My original intentions were to use this as a beach bag but a towel is not nearly heavy enough to stretch it out. I'm thinking I will make another one double the size!
